Choosing a floor lamp: height, spot and fitting

The three decisions

  1. Height: reading light next to a sofa works best at 120-150 cm (shade at eye level when seated); ambient uplighters at 170-180 cm.
  2. Spot: place the lamp 30-50 cm from the seat, never directly behind a TV.
  3. Fitting: E27 is the Dutch standard for floor lamps; E14 appears in smaller table lamps. Check the fitting before buying bulbs.

Material and style

Wood and rattan give warm, diffused light and fit the current Dutch interior trend; metal shades direct light and suit workspaces. Dimmable models bridge both uses.

Veem floor lamps range from solar garden models to 180 cm indoor tripods, all from EU stock, delivered in 3-5 working days with 14-day returns.
