About Veem

Veem is a home and living store from Amsterdam. We sell furniture, lighting, tableware, textiles and decoration for the whole house - and we write down how to choose it, in centimetres rather than adjectives.

Where the name comes from

A veem is an old Dutch word for a warehousing company. Along the waterfront of Amsterdam stood the great veem warehouses: tall brick buildings where coffee, tea, tobacco and spices came off the ships to be weighed, sorted, stored and released again. A veem did not make anything and did not show anything off. It kept things in good order until someone needed them.

That is the idea we took. One well-organised place where everything for your home sits ready - without showroom theatre and without showroom prices. The name is a promise about how we work, not a claim about how special we are.

What we sell

Eight categories, each with its own sub-categories: living room, bedroom, lighting, kitchen, textiles, decoration, storage and bathroom. Much of the range is made or finished by hand, which is why two of the same vase are never quite identical - and why we say so on the product page instead of photographing it away.

Advice before the sale

Our guides exist because most of what goes wrong at home is a measurement, not a taste. How high a pendant hangs above a dining table. Which rug size keeps a chair on the rug when it is pushed back. Why an inner cushion should be larger than its cover. We write those down with the numbers, and we tell you when something is not worth buying.

What you can count on

European stock. Everything ships from warehouses within the EU - short distances, no surprise import charges.
Shipping. Standard shipping within the Netherlands costs EUR 6.95, and orders of EUR 55 or more ship free. You see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.
14 days to change your mind. No reason needed - the statutory period. The item must be unused and in its original packaging.
Honest product pages. Materials, dimensions and care instructions where you need them, and a clear note when something is not suitable for a bathroom, a dishwasher or the outdoors.
