Bijzettafels
A side table earns its place by height. Pick one roughly level with the armrest of your sofa, or a few centimetres lower, and you can set a cup down without reaching for it. Anything taller starts to dominate the seating area.
Solid wood asks little: dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth, dry straight after, and use a coaster under warm or wet glasses. On a high-pile rug a table with three legs or a solid base stands steadier than one on four thin legs.
Many of these double neatly as a bedside table. See also coffee tables.
