A console table fits where an ordinary table cannot: the hallway, behind the sofa, under a mirror. In a narrow corridor a depth of 25 to 35 cm works best, leaving room to pass with a coat on.

Hanging a mirror above it? Keep 20 to 30 cm between the top and the bottom of the mirror and the two read as one composition. Free-standing models need no wall fixing, though an anti-tip strap is sensible if you load it up or have small children.
